Welcome to Belhaven Inn

Built in 1851, Belhaven consists of 16 rooms: 4 Guest Rooms & Efficiency Guest Suite, 4 Common Rooms, Dining Room, Kitchen, owners quarters and 2 third floor bedrooms.  As you enter our columned front porch & beautiful oak paneled entrance foyer with its mullioned windows, you begin to see what a wonderful family home this was back in the 1850's when the Caldwells built it.

From the hallway with its circular stairway and "lighthouse design" newel post you may enter the first of our common rooms.  A cozy family room designed for comfort & ease.
Watch TV, play games, read or just sit in front of a crackling fire. Dessert  teas are often served here in the evening.
A left turn from the hall leads into the reception room / office.  This is where you will check-in.  The room is filled with brochures, in- formation, guide books, games and books.
Through the French doors you will find our "Victorian Pink Parlor" with its original carved mantel and working fireplace. This lovely room saw many family functions such as marriages & engagements. Caldwell daughter Abbie used  it to teach voice & music.
Its long mullioned windows echo those in the vestibule.  Oriental carpets of blue/ mauve pink & cream cover the wide plank floors. Eastlake furnishings & family heirlooms fill the room.

Situated on an acre of land it affords lovely little relaxing lilac or apple groves to sit under or the wide expanse of lawn for badminton, volley ball or sunning. Our columned side verandah & deck with porch swing offers relaxation  & outdoor dining. Yet we are only a short stroll to the shops, movies, restaurants & waterfront.

At the harbor downtown, the footbridge commands a panoramic view of the Penobscot Bay & breath-taking sunsets. Stroll along the waterfront walkway then rest in a charming gazebo. Belfast, Maine is the geographical center of coastal Maine. Let Belhaven be your home base as you begin your discoveries of what coastal Maine is all about. Camden is only 20 minutes to the south and Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park is just over an hour.

Please join us in our Child-Friendly Inn. It's filled with interesting yet touchable furnishings collected back when we were the tourists. We named our inn Belhaven because it was our "haven" in Bel fast for so many years. You will be able to relax, unwind and enjoy a real Maine experience.
